HLI Interim President Welcomes Health Care Decision, Calls Faithful to Prayer

FRONT ROYAL, Va.,

Dec. 15, 2010 /Christian Newswire/ -- Monsignor Ignacio Barreiro-Carámbula, interim president of Human Life International (HLI), expressed gratitude to Our Lord for the recent ruling of a federal judge in Virginia, who decided in favor of a legal challenge to abortion-funding federal health care "reform" law. The case was brought by Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, challenging the constitutionality of the law's mandate requiring individual citizens to purchase health insurance.

"May God bless Mr. Cuccinelli and all whose work it is to defend life and the just application of the American Constitution and the laws of this nation," said Monsignor Barreiro. "And let all those who are discouraged by the anti-life trends in American law and politics take note: there are champions of life and justice fighting for us and future generations of Americans, and they desperately need our prayers."

"The priests of HLI offered a Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for the intention that God's will to be done in this case. Certainly we were joined in prayer for this intention by many other followers of Christ around the nation. We see the outcome, which is a result of both the excellent work of Mr. Cuccinelli and his team, the just decision of Judge Henry Hudson, and the prayers which make these events possible."

"The Lord of Life is not neutral with regard to the outcomes of these legal and political battles," said Monsignor Barreiro. "We must more and more turn to Him to give our efforts efficacy and guidance, as the fight for life and justice is never merely a political or legal fight. We also turn to Him in gratitude for his generosity and for his protection of those who dare to tread into these battles."

"We also continue to pray that the current controversial and anti-life health care law be replaced by one which truly affirms life, and which finds a just means to ensure that essential health care is available to all who seek it," said Monsignor Barreiro.
