"But most of them vote against life"

They call themselves ‘Catholic’

Seventeen representatives from California who identify themselves as Catholics will join the 112th Congress of the United States when it meets on Jan. 3, 2011 -- but only a handful of them have voting records showing full-fledged support for the pro-life cause.

Of the 17, just three – Dan Lungren, R-Gold River, Devin Nunes, R-Tulare, and Edward Royce, D-Fullerton -- received a 100% pro-life score from National Right to Life based on their voting records during 2007-2008 as reported by Project Vote Smart.

The next best pro-life record is that of Rep. Brian Bilbray, R-Carlsbad, who received a 42% rating from National Right to Life for 2007-2008, according to Project Vote Smart.

A stunning 13 California members of Congress who identify themselves as Catholics received a 0% rating from National Right to Life based on their 2007-2008 voting records – or more than three-fourths of California’s ‘Catholic’ delegation.
